Heath Scrutiny
The City Council's Health Scrutiny Panel meets to respond to consultations on health that affect our district. For example, the Panel responded to the Department of Health's consultation on the use of 0844 telephone numbers in General Practice surgeries.
The Panel have also recently carried out a short investigation into patient transport services to local hospitals. Their findings provided local evidence and information to a Kent-wide review of patient transport currently being carried out by the Kent LINk (Local Involvement Network). The LINks report on patient transport is due to be published later this year. Please see below for more information on the work of the LINk.
The Kent Local Involvement Network (LINk)
The Kent LINk is an independent network of local people and community groups who work together to influence and improve Kent’s health and social care services.
LINks:
- aim to represent everyone in the community - especially those not currently being heard
- have the power to investigate issues of concern, request information and get a response, enter and view services, write reports and recommendations, and refer issues to local councillors
- provide a one-stop shop for the community to engage with care professionals and vice versa
