City Life - Balancing the Needs of the Local Community
The council's Executive asked scrutiny to take an in-depth look at the development and management of the city centre. The council has many different policies for the city centre and the purpose of the review was to ensure they were co-ordinated effectively with an overall vision to guide future plans and make recommendations for improvements.
The review recommended a long term strategy for the city centre supported by a dedicated budget to cover all aspects of city life including the public realm, community safety, the nighttime economy, promoting, accessing and living in the city centre.
