Health Scrutiny Panel

Background

Although as a district council we do not have statutory powers to investigate the NHS, the authority is keen to keep up to date with what is happening in the health sector, and to comment appropriately where we feel there is an area for concern.

To enable this to happen the council created a Health Scrutiny Panel which meets approximately every three months.

The council, along with other district councils in Kent has developed a protocol with Kent County Council (who have a statutory duty to scrutinise the NHS) whereby councils can work together to look at areas of mutual interest or concern.
