Call-ins

Where members of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee feel that a decision has been taken incorrectly they have the power to call-in that decision. The decision cannot be implemented until the call-in has been considered. If, after considering the issue the committee still have concerns, they can refer the matter back to the Executive, setting out in writing the nature of their concerns.

Since the introduction of Overview & Scrutiny, 14 decisions have been called-in on a range of subjects including coach parking, Parish Council contributions, contractor selection, and caravan park rents. Of these call-ins, three have been referred back to the Executive. On all three occasions the Executive have accepted the recommendations made and have adjusted their decisions accordingly.
